On May 9, our team had the chance to attend a Digital Collage workshop, co-hosted by Valérie Viatour and Valérie Geron. The Digital Collage, inspired by the Climate Collage, is a fun and collaborative workshop whose aim is to raise participants” awareness on the environmental issues of digital technology.
Via a series of cards, the participants were able to link the different aspects of digital technology and its effects at the environmental, social and societal levels. We then discussed the actions that could be put in place to limit these impacts.
At a personal level, some actions can be taken such as limiting the number of devices and the size of our screens, extending the life of our PCs and smartphones, reducing the viewing of streaming videos which, representing 80% of internet traffic, is the most energy-intensive sector of our digital activities.
At company level, we can rethink our digital equipment purchasing policy, analyze the environmental impact of our activities, encourage our customers to reduce their impact by adopting effective management of their document management systems… and most of all continue to raise awareness around us.
This workshop was particularly rich in terms of raising awareness, as a result of which Exquando pleads more than ever for the responsible use of technology and information.
